Frequently Asked Questions
What are your business hours?
My office hours are typically Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10am-6 pm. My office is conveniently located in El Cerrito. Telehealth sessions are always available. During this ongoing pandemic I am only meeting virtually via secure video conferencing or by phone.
How much do you charge?
My full rate is $155 for a standard session (1 hour)
However, I offer a discounted rate of $130 for weekly or bi-weekly sessions (1 hour each)
The initial visit is $155 (60-75 minutes)
EMDR sessions can vary in length and therefore in price:
An extended 90-minute session is $210; a 2-hour session is $260.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept checks, cash, electronic payments, and credit cards.
Do you accept insurance for counseling sessions?
At present, I am not on any insurance panels.
If I need to re-schedule or cancel my session, what do I do?
I request 48 hours notice.
Do you work with people at a distance?
Yes. Coaching and supervision are available to interested English-speaking individuals who live anywhere in the United States or abroad. Distance services are offered via telephone or secure video conferencing.
As a California licensed therapist, my counseling and dance-movement/creative arts therapy services are available only to individuals who are physically located in California during our sessions. During this ongoing pandemic I continue to meet only by secure video or phone with all of my clients.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Your sessions are always confidential.
However, there are certain limitations within a counseling and therapy context. California law protects your right to confidentiality, except in circumstances of child abuse, elder abuse, and/or potential harm to yourself or others. In those instances as a licensed counselor I am legally and ethically required to report these situations to a law enforcement agency.
Also, if you are a spiritual direction student and work with me as your supervisor, your school may require that I share my evaluation of you as a potential spiritual director.
There are so many therapists/counselors, coaches, and supervisors to choose from. How do I know who is best for me?
This is a question only you can answer. There are indeed many qualified and wonderful helping professionals in the world. To help you make your decision, I suggest that you ask questions and get the information you need to satisfy your mind. Listen also to your heart and trust your gut and intuition. Choose someone you feel comfortable with, someone you feel can understand and accept you, and who will best support your growth. Whomever you choose, I wish you joy and peace of heart.
