Trauma Relief Therapy
Trauma comes in all sizes and shapes, from the minor traumas we encounter in daily life, to the overwhelming traumas we may experience due to accidents, violence, natural disasters, illness, and loss.
Here’s my simple explanation of how trauma affects us:
When a trauma occurs our nervous system is flooded; it’s overwhelmed. So, instead of “digesting” the experience as another incident that’s occurred in our lives, our brain acts as if the experience is still happening to us now. The traumatic experience continues to live on in our psyche like an alarm system that’s gone awry and is constantly blaring. As a result, we may live in a state of ongoing agitation, fear, helplessness, anxiety, or depression. It’s like we’ve been force fed a humongous meal far beyond our capacity to digest it. And now we’re suffering from continuous indigestion and heartburn.
To help resolve the impact trauma has on your body, mind and spirit, I offer three state-of-the-art trauma resolution therapies:
- Traditional EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), created by psychologist Dr. Francine Shapiro
- Core Focused Trauma Relief Therapy (a variation of EMDR), pioneered by psychologist Dr. Allan Botkin
